Banker and philanthropist T. Denny Sanford is donating $25-million to establish a fund aimed at training South Dakota workers for high-demand occupations, writes the Sioux Falls Argus Leader. The state will match the gift, which was announced Wednesday.
The $50-million Build Dakota fund will provide full scholarships and other expenses for students earning degrees in specified fields at South Dakota's four technical colleges. The initial funding will be available for five years, during which the program will award 300 scholarships annually. Afterward an endowment will support 50 scholarships a year.
