Tech Investor Conway Gives $40-Million to New S.F. Hospital

The University of California at San Francisco's soon-to-open new medical complex announced a $40-million donation Saturday from venture capitalist Ron Conway, the San Francisco Chronicle reports. The gift will help fund an outpatient hub at the UCSF Medical Center in the city's Mission Bay district.

The 207,500-square-foot outpatient center, to be named the UCSF Ron Conway Family Gateway Medical Building, will serve women, children, and cancer patients. Slated to open January 26, it anchors the $1.5-billion hospital complex set to open five days later. Mr. Conway founded the venture capital firm SV Angel and was an early investor in Facebook, Twitter, Square, and other prominent tech start-ups.
