Verizon Donates $50-Million for Cornell's NYC Tech Campus

Verizon's name will adorn a hub at Cornell University's New York City technology campus in recognition of a $50-million gift from the telecommunications giant, the Ithaca Journal and Forbes write. The Verizon Executive Education Center will be a gathering place for students, educators, and entrepreneurs, the university said in announcing the donation Monday.

Connecting academia and industry is central to Cornell's mission in creating the 12-acre tech campus, now under construction on Roosevelt Island on the East River between Manhattan and Queens. Verizon Chairman and CEO Lowell McAdam is a 1976 Cornell graduate and a member of the university's board of trustees.
