Veterans Charity Declines Invitation to Trump Campaign Rally

Liberty House, a small veterans nonprofit in New Hampshire, risked losing the offer of a six-figure donation when it turned down an invitation to attend a Monday campaign rally for presidential candidate Donald Trump, according to The Daily Beast.

Executive director Keith Howard made the decision because he said he doesn't want veterans to be used for political purposes. He also was concerned that appearing at the event — on the eve of the New Hampshire primary could put Liberty House's nonprofit status at risk.

The Donald J. Trump Foundation ultimately agreed to make the donation anyway via New Hampshire state representative Al Baldasaro, a veteran and supporter of Mr. Trump, who said he would accept the check on Liberty House's behalf and deliver it to the nonprofit later.
