Two ex-Marines who helped launch a charity that organizes military veterans for rapid response to humanitarian emergencies are among the 2015 recipients of the Heinz Awards, which honor innovation in addressing critical global problems, reports the Associated Press.
William McNulty and Jacob Wood, who co-founded Los Angeles-based Team Rubicon, will share one of the five $250,000 prizes for Heinz honorees, winning the award in the human-condition category.
The prizes are bestowed annually by the Heinz Family Foundation, which also named winners Thursday in the categories of public policy, economics, environment, and the arts. They will be recognized at a May 13 ceremony in Pittsburgh, the foundation's home base. See the awards website for information on all the 2015 recipients.
