Wis. Groups Mull Merger to Preserve Green Bay Orchestra

The Green Bay Symphony Orchestra, which is set to shut down at the end of the current season due to shrinking donations and ticket sales, could get a new lease on life through a proposed partnership with the Madison-based Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra, reports the Green Bay Press-Gazette.

Mark Cantrell, executive director of the chamber ensemble, said the plan, still in the early talking stage, would bring both groups under one organizational and administrative umbrella. A merger could help bring new business and philanthropic models to the Green Bay orchestra and bolster the chamber group's efforts to become a statewide resource, he said.
