First impressions matter — even if they’re virtual. When participating in an online event, it’s still important to choose a clean, unwrinkled outfit. But speakers should also consider forgoing a jangly bracelet that could interrupt their audio feed, and ditch the all-white outfit that could blend into the wall behind them. Similarly, it’s just as valuable to maintain eye contact over a video stream as it is in-person. Be mindful of the camera’s angle. Eye level is best so that speakers aren’t staring down into the camera.
