Louis Muglia has been named president of the $770 million health foundation, effective in January.
A physician-scientist, he currently holds a variety of appointments: At Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, he is the vice chair for research, chair of the Division of Human Genetics, co-director of the Perinatal Institute, and director of the Center for Prevention of Preterm Birth. He is also a professor of pediatrics at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.
National Center for Family Philanthropy
Nicholas Tedesco will become president and CEO of the philanthropy-advisory group on December 1. Until then, he is a senior philanthropic adviser at the Philanthropy Centre at J.P. Morgan Private Bank.
Virginia Esposito, founder and president since 1997, will remain with the organization as a senior fellow.
United Nations Foundation
Elizabeth Cousens, deputy director since 2015, has been promoted to president and CEO, effective January 1. She is a former ambassador to the U.N. Economic and Social Council and alternate representative to the U.N. General Assembly from 2012 to 2014.
Cousens succeeds Kathy Calvin, who is retiring after 16 years at the foundation.
Walton Family Foundation
Caryl Stern, president of Unicef USA, has been named CEO of the $4.9 billion foundation established by the family that owns Walmart Stores. She succeeds Kyle Peterson, who, after three years in the position, announced in January his intention to depart.

Suzanne Anarde will become CEO of Rural Community Assistance Corporation in November. Currently she is a vice president at Local Initiatives Support Corporation and the director of Rural LISC.
Gail Christopher, former vice president for food, health, and well-being and senior adviser at the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, will begin serving as executive director of the National Collaborative for Health Equity on November 1. She succeeds Brian Smedley, who has led the group since co-founding it in 2014.
Jeannette Fournier, a nonprofit-management consultant in Philadelphia, has been named executive director of Caring for Friends, a Philadelphia charity that delivers meal and companionship to homebound seniors. It was formerly known as Aid for Friends.
Annalisa Holcombe, vice president and chief advancement officer at Westminster College, has been appointed president of Western Governors University Advancement.
Charlene Lake, senior vice president for corporate social responsibility and chief sustainability officer at AT&T, will now also lead the AT&T Foundation.
Andrea Specht has been appointed interim executive director of the foundation and chief institutional advancement officer at Normandale Community College. Most recently she was executive director and chief advancement officer at Artistry, a theater group in Bloomington, Minn.

Rihab Babiker, associate director of finance and operations at Harvard University’s Center for International Development, has been named vice president of finance and operations at the Center for Effective Philanthropy.
Yael Eytan, director of marketing and communications at the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology, will now serve as chief marketing and communications officer at the Asian Art Museum.
Katrina Forrest, deputy chief of staff and legislative director in the office of Councilmember David Grosso of Washington, D.C., has been appointed the national director of partnerships at CityHealth.
Kathryn Gonnerman has been promoted to vice president of philanthropy at the Jewish Community Foundation of Greater Hartford. She is currently the director of its Center for Innovative Philanthropy after serving last year as the foundation’s interim CEO.
John Harper has joined the consulting company FSG as a managing director. He has most recently worked as a consultant with clients that include the New York State Education Department, Roddenberry Foundation, and America’s Promise Alliance.
Laura Kelly has been promoted to vice president of global partnerships and development at the Brother’s Brother Foundation. She most recently was director of development in the foundation’s Virginia office.
Roger Lowe, executive vice president of strategic communications at the Grocery Manufacturers Association, has joined UsAgainstAlzheimer’s as chief communications officer.
Ruth McFarlane, director of development and community engagement at the National Center for Lesbian Rights, has been named vice president of advancement at the Ms. Foundation for Women.
Ethan Perlstein, founder of Perlara PBC, a biotech company, has joined the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation as chief scientific officer, a new position at the group that raises money for research on spinal-cord injuries.
Len Romano, managing director of the not-for-profit practice at Turknett Leadership Group, will now be a senior project director at Convergent Nonprofit Solutions.
Nathaniel Wallace, vice president of operations and co-owner of Communications Professionals, has joined the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation as its new Detroit director.
Nancy Youssef, founder and president of Curves with Purpose, will now serve as chief corporate development officer at Soles4Souls. She also previously served as chair of Soles4Souls’ Board of Directors.
Departures
Gary Gilliland, president and director of Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, plans to step down in 2020 after five years.
MayKao Hang, president and CEO of the Amherst H. Wilder Foundation, is leaving to become vice president and inaugural dean of the College of Health at St. Thomas University.
Bruce McNamer, president and CEO of the Greater Washington Community Foundation since 2015, will depart this year. Tonia Wellons, vice president of community investment, will step in as interim leader while the foundation searches for a permanent replacement.
Jerry Schubel, president and CEO of the Aquarium of the Pacific, intends to retire once a successor is hired. He joined the aquarium in 2002.
Michael Shanklin, CEO of Kidspace Children’s Museum since 2011, will be leaving his position to help create an unidentified new children’s museum in Washington, D.C.
Simon Woods has resigned as CEO of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. He was appointed to the top role in January 2018.
