Princeton Area Community Foundation
In February, Mathieu Nelessen will become president and CEO of the $272 million community fund in New Jersey. Currently he is CEO of the Childhood Arthritis and Rheumatology Research Alliance.
Nelessen follows Jeff Vega, who died in January.

Mary Bier, a human-resources and strategy consultant, has been tapped as president and CEO of the Military Child Education Coalition. She succeeds Becky Porter, who is retiring after five years there.
Tiffany Bohee has been appointed president of Mercy Housing California. Until earlier this year, she was senior vice president of development at Lendlease.
Heather Finnegan, president and CEO of the Community’s Foundation, has become executive director of the Sarah Ralston Foundation. She follows Lynette Killen, who has retired after six years at the helm of this $58 million grant maker.
Other Notable Appointments
Chris Antonowich, a fundraising and marketing consultant, has been hired as vice president of marketing and visitor experience at the Boston Children’s Museum.
Sarah Christa Butts is now vice president of government relations at Service Coordination, which provides case-management services and advocacy for people with disabilities, complex needs, and older adults across Maryland, Washington, D.C., and Northern Virginia. Most recently she was director of public policy at the National Association of Social Workers.
Sylvia Chinn, a vice president at Netzel Grigsby Associates, has joined Essential Access Health as vice president of fund development.
Khyati Mehta, senior director of finance at the Riverside Community Health Foundation, is now chief financial officer at the Inland Empire Community Foundation. Mehta will step into this key leadership. She replaces Paula Myles, who will now serve as the $137 million community fund’s director of donor services.
Fermin Vasquez, founder and chief strategist at Más Media Consulting, is now director of strategic communications and engagement at TheDream.US. In addition, Sadhana Singh, senior communications manager, is departing the college-success organization after six years.
Alicia White has been promoted from deputy chief financial officer to chief financial officer at La Frontera Arizona.
Legacy
The philanthropy scholar Warren Ilchman died on November 21 at age 91. From 1993 until 1997, he served as the second executive director of the Indiana University Center on Philanthropy, the predecessor to the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy. He wrote or edited 15 books on giving, including Philanthropy in the World’s Traditions with his co-authors Stanley Katz and Edward Queen. Ilchman also served as Asia adviser to the Ford Foundation and founding director of the Paul and Daisy Soros Fellowship for New Americans.
