Skilled fundraisers are some of the most in-demand staff members in the nonprofit world — and they pull in some of the biggest salaries.
To look at pay for fundraising leaders at nonprofits nationwide, The Chronicle examined Internal Revenue Service Form 990 data filed by nonprofits with at least $35 million in private support. Below is a sample of what fundraisers make in four U.S. regions. The list provides salaries at the high, midrange, and low end of the salary scale for each region.
The information is from filing year 2014, the most recent year with complete data available. Chronicle subscribers, see our searchable database of fundraiser salary information going back to 2010. The database is updated regularly as the IRS makes information available.
