More than 300,000 Americans made donations during last week’s Give Local America fundraising drive, collectively providing more than $50-million for 7,000 nonprofit groups in 120 participating communities, according to a news release from event organizer Kimbia.
Kimbia, a provider of online-giving technology, said with donations peaked at 34 per second shortly before 2 p.m. Eastern time. The average gift was $112.92.
Give Local America focused on contributing through community foundations to support causes in the donors’ own backyards. The Community Foundation of Sarasota County in Florida, the Sacramento Region Community Foundation, and the Coastal Community Foundation of Charleston, S.C., brought in the most money.
