Angel Charley has been tapped as executive director, and will lead nonprofit programs at this Indigenous social-justice organization. She is a member of the Pueblo of Laguna, Zuni, and Navajo Nation who most recently served as executive director of the Coalition to Stop Violence Against Native Women.
Charley will work with Crystal Echo Hawk, its founder and CEO, and Michael Johnson, its president.
In addition, Jennifer Van der Heide has been hired as vice president of advocacy and engagement. Previously she was vice president for policy and advocacy at the Asian & Pacific Islander American Health Forum.
Americans for the Arts
Jamie Bennett and Suzy Delvalle have stepped up as interim co-CEOs following the departure of Nolen Bivens at the end of May.
Bennett is an associate consultant at Lord Cultural Resources who previously served as interim president and CEO of United States Artists until 2022.
Delvalle is the former president and executive director of Creative Capital.

Kai Carter will be the first head of global programs at the grant maker with more than $3 billion in assets.
She is the former director of the global climate initiative at the David and Lucile Packard Foundation.

Anna Hawley has been promoted from chief operating officer to president and CEO of the Lone Star Flight Museum. She succeeds Doug Owens, who has led the aviation museum in Texas for the past eight years.
Anne Hoyt Taff, vice president of partnerships at the Saint Paul & Minnesota Foundation, will become executive director of the Minneapolis Parks Foundation on July 1.
Denise Padín Collazo, former chief of external affairs at Faith in Action, has been hired as the inaugural executive director of the Fund to Build Grassroots Power.
Sergio Rizzo-Fontanesi is now president and CEO of AbilityFirst, a group that offers programs to advance higher education, life skills, job readiness, and social and recreational opportunities for people with disabilities. Previously he was executive director and CEO of Beit T’Shuvah in Los Angeles.
Casey Snyder will be promoted from director for development to executive director of the Harford Community College Foundation on July 6. He will succeed Denise Dregier, who is retiring in July.
Kristen Walter, director of U.S. programs at Worldreader, has been named CEO of Kids Read Now. She follows its co-founder Leib Lurie, who will remain board president.

Andrew Bacher-Hicks, an assistant professor at Boston University’s Wheelock College of Education and Human Development, has been appointed vice president of evidence and evaluation at Arnold Ventures. In addition, Jennifer Laudano has joined the grant maker as vice president of advocacy and health care. Previously she was senior director of communications and community engagement at the National Academy for State Health Policy.
Claudia Keenan, senior director of leadership giving at GBMC, has been hired as vice president and chief development officer at Sheppard Pratt. This social-services group operates programs in mental health, substance use, developmental disabilities, and other areas.
Jennifer López will become chief digital officer at the New York Public Library, starting July 1. Currently she is vice president of product development at Capital One.
Jonah Nigh, senior vice president of development and alumni engagement at the New School, is now vice president and chief advancement officer at Juilliard.
Gwendolyn Notestine, assistant vice president for development at the Arizona State University Foundation, has been named vice president for university advancement at Texas A&M University at San Antonio.
Kelly Virella has joined the nonprofit newsroom Capital B as its executive editor. She worked for The New York Times for seven years, most recently as editor of the Canada region.
Donovan Young, program associate for social impact and strategy at the Char and Chuck Fowler Family Foundation, will join the George Gund Foundation as a program officer for its social justice, public education, and thriving families programs.
Departures
Lois DeBacker, managing director of the Kresge Foundation’s environment program, will retire on September 27. She has worked at the $4 billion foundation since 2008.
Robert Rosen, who has led the Philanthropic Partnerships team at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation for nearly 17 years, is departing at the end of June.
