Maurice Jones, president and CEO of the Local Initiatives Support Corporation, will leave in March to become CEO of this new organization, which is focused on developing career opportunities at Fortune 500 companies for Black Americans without college degrees. OneTen aims to create 1 million jobs over the next 10 years.
Demos
K. Sabeel Rahman has stepped down as president to serve in President Biden’s administration as senior counselor at the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs, a division of the Office of Management and Budget.
Joseph DiNorcia, executive vice president and chief financial officer, will serve as its interim leader during the search for a permanent successor.
National Audubon Society
Elizabeth Gray, global managing director for climate at the Nature Conservancy, has been tapped as president and chief conservation officer. The first woman president of the wildlife group, she will report to its CEO, David Yarnold.
In addition, the organization has announced two other changes to its executive leadership.
Jamaal Nelson, partner and adviser at the Management Center, has been appointed chief equity, diversity, and inclusion officer.
David Ringer was promoted from chief network officer to chief network and communications officer.
Philanthropy New York
Kathryn O’Neal-Dunham, chief operating officer, has been promoted to CEO. She has worked at the philanthropy group for seven years and follows Ronna Brown, who departed in December.

Reed Hartley, executive director of the Mid-Atlantic American Lebanese Syrian Associated Charities at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, has been appointed executive director of the Thought Leadership and Innovation Foundation. He succeeds Shawn Murphy, who will remain with the group as vice president and a member of its Board of Directors.
Anna Laymon, executive director of the Women’s Suffrage Centennial Commission, will now be vice president of programs and planning at the America 250 Foundation. It is the nonprofit partner of the U.S. Semiquincentennial Commission, which are jointly planning a celebration of the 250th anniversary of American independence in 2026.
Frances Messano, senior managing partner, has been promoted to president of the NewSchools Venture Fund. She will continue to report to its CEO, Stacey Childress.
Tony Moore has been named president and CEO of the Trinity Park Conservancy, which is in the process of building Harold Simmons Park in Dallas. Most recently, he was executive director and CEO of Gathering Place, Tulsa’s Riverfront Park.

Tahira Christmon, director of membership at the Council on Foundations, is becoming vice president of external affairs at ABFE: a Philanthropic Partnership for Black Communities.
James Horton, director of social-impact programs at Carnegie Hall, is joining the Museum of the City of New York as vice president of education and engagement.
Erin Kahn, a consultant and former founding executive director of the Raikes Foundation, will now serve as director of strategy and programs at the Russell Family Foundation.
Caroline Karutu, chief of party for regional health integration to enhance services at IntraHealth International in Eastern Uganda, will now serve as vice president of programs at the END Fund.
Kelly Suzanne Saulsberry, director of policy and outreach at the City of Chicago’s Commission on Human Relations, has been hired as a program officer at Woods Fund Chicago.
Tosha Tabron, senior vice president of lending at Invest Detroit, will join the Kresge Foundation as a social-investment officer, focused on Detroit and other national programs. Also, Joe Evans has been promoted from portfolio manager to portfolio director and a social-investment officer at the $3.8 billion foundation.
Consultants and Others
Benton Arnett, a climate public-policy consultant at ExxonMobil, has been appointed senior manager of policy and public affairs at the Winston Agency, a communications firm specializing in sustainability and corporate social responsibility with nonprofit and corporate clients. In addition, Lori Loker has been hired as senior director of client services. Most recently, she was recruitment and relationship manager at the Washington Speakers Bureau.
Ash Didwania, vice president of sales at Catchafire, has been hired as senior vice president of revenue at Resilia, a tech start-up that helps nonprofit organizations use data to build capacity and scale their programs.
Jennifer Jiles, a professor of communication at Georgia State University, has been named senior vice president of communications, public relations, and social-justice strategy at Bridge Philanthropic Consulting. In addition, Tashion Macon was promoted to senior vice president of marketing, branding, and social-justice strategy. Previously, she was senior manager of partnerships and promotions at T-Mobile.
Departures
Jenny Everett, managing director at the Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs, will step down at the end of March.
Gayle Ober plans to retire as president of the George Family Foundation at the end of the year. She has led the Minneapolis foundation for 11 years.
Joel Parrott intends to retire as president and CEO of the Oakland Zoo once it is able to re-open after its closure during the pandemic. He joined the zoo in 1984 as assistant director and staff veterinarian and was promoted to director the following year.
Elissa Salas will depart after 10 years as CEO of College Track in June.
Sheila Smith is retiring after 25 years as director of Minnesota Citizens for the Arts. Jennifer Halcrow, an arts consultant at Corvus North, will serve as its interim director.
Legacies
Thomas Baker, the first executive director of the John R. Oishei Foundation, died January 15 at age 77. He led the foundation from 1997 until 2007, during which it distributed nearly $120 million in grants to organizations near Buffalo, N.Y.
George McDonald, founder of the Doe Fund, died of cancer on January 26. He was 76. McDonald stepped down as president earlier this month, 35 years after creating this organization that develops affordable and supportive housing in New York and helps formerly homeless or incarcerated people find meaningful jobs.
