Margaret A. Cargill Philanthropies
Heather Kukla will be promoted to president and CEO in April. She is currently its vice president and general counsel.
She will succeed Paul Busch, who is retiring after 15 years at the $9.3 billion grant maker, including the last five as its leader. He will remain on its Board of Directors.
AmeriCorps
Irv Dennis has joined the federal agency for national service and volunteerism as a senior adviser to its chief executive officer, Michael Smith.
Dennis was appointed in 2018 as chief financial officer of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development under former President Donald Trump.
If, a Foundation for Radical Possibility
Temi Bennett, director of policy, and Hanh Le, vice president of strategic partnerships, will now serve as the organization’s first co-CEOs. It was founded in 1997 as the Consumer Health Foundation and changed its name last year.
They succeed Ria Pugeda, who has led the foundation on an interim basis since March after Yanique Redwood departed to become executive director of Boston University’s Center for Antiracist Research. Pugeda will return to her role as senior program officer.
National Committee for Responsive Philanthropy
Maria De La Cruz has been hired as vice president and chief external affairs officer, a new position at the organization.

In July, she stepped down after eight years as president of the Headwaters Foundation for Justice.

Caryn Campbell, director of patron engagement at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, will become executive director of the Misty Copeland Foundation in January. The organization was founded by the dancer Misty Copeland to establish after-school programs that make ballet accessible, affordable, and fun; Copeland will remain its president. In addition, Sindy Folgar has been named director of its Be Bold program, also effective in January. She is currently senior director of programs and partnerships at Dancewave.
Heather Hemphill has been promoted from chief financial officer to executive director of the Travis Mills Foundation, which offers services to veterans and their families as they adjust to life outside the military.
Amy Homma has been promoted to chief audience officer at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures. She was previously the museum’s vice president of education and public engagement.
Luz Liebeskind, chief financial officer at RiverSpring Living, has been named chief financial officer at the UJA-Federation of New York, beginning January 1. She will succeed Irvin Rosenthal, who is retiring after 22 years overseeing its endowment that is currently worth more than $1 billion.
David Shapiro, CEO of Mentor: the National Mentoring Partnership, has been named president and CEO of the YMCA of Greater Boston. He succeeds James Morton, who has led the organization since 2015. In addition, Kathryn Saunders has been promoted to senior association director of community development. She has served as executive director of its Roxbury branch for the past nine years.
Tearanny Street, executive director of marketing, communications, and special events at St. Francis College, has been appointed director of marketing and communications at Greenwich House. This New York nonprofit group offers programs in the arts, education, health, and services for older adults.
Linda Williams has been promoted from executive vice president and chief strategy officer to president of Thompson Habib Denison, a consulting firm that provides data-driven marketing services for donors and nonprofit groups.
Robert Wilson-Black, who was previously CEO of Sojourners, is now president and CEO of the Faith & Politics Institute.

Michael Andreasen, senior vice president for university advancement at the University of Oregon, will join the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as vice chancellor for development on January 23.

Janelle Cavanagh, vice president for strategic partnerships at the Global Fund for Women, has joined the Marin Community Foundation as chief philanthropy officer.
Jenny Curtin was promoted from senior program officer to director of education at the Barr Foundation, where she will oversee a $40 million grant portfolio.
Alexandria Featherston-Gomez has been promoted from grants associate to grants officer at the Kenneth Rainin Foundation. In addition, Victoria Pozzato was promoted from executive assistant to investment operations analyst.
Kaitlyn Perez will begin as communications and learning officer at the Charles and Margery Barancik Foundation on January 2. Currently she is community-affairs director and chief spokeswoman for the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office, in Florida.
Veronica Rossini was promoted from global director of communications and marketing to vice president for Europe at the Tent Partnership for Refugees. Haiwen Lu Langworth, vice president of global communications and social impact at the sports-media company DAZN Group, will replace her as global director of communications and marketing.
Alesia Soltanpanah, who was most recently chief development officer at the Center for Reproductive Rights, is now chief development officer at the Rape, Abuse, and Incest National Network.
Rogier van den Berg, acting global director of the World Resources Institute’s Ross Center for Sustainable Cities since July 2021, will continue permanently in the role. He was previously the organization’s director for urban development.
Julie Whitman will join the Lilly Endowment in March as a program director for community development. Since 2017, she has served as the executive director of the Commission on Improving the Status of Children in Indiana. (The Lilly Endowment is a financial supporter of the Chronicle of Philanthropy.)
Departure
Greg Hills is stepping down after four years as CEO of FSG. He has worked at the social-impact consulting firm since 2004. Jennifer Cooperman, chief financial officer, and Bobbi Silten, managing director of the Shared Value Initiative, will serve as interim co-CEOs until a permanent successor is named.
Legacy
Mitchell Rosenthal, a psychiatrist who created and led two nonprofit groups to help people with substance-use disorder, died on November 14 at age 87. He founded the Rosenthal Center for Addiction Studies as well as the Phoenix House network of drug-treatment centers.
