Dave Newell, CEO of PromiseShip, will become CEO next month. He succeeds Sharon Osborne, who has led the Seattle charity since 1989.

Farrah Parkes will become the executive director of New Century Trust, which makes grants to curb political and economic inequalities affecting women and girls.

More New CEOs

Julie Cryser, assistant dean of development and alumni relations at the Eberly College of Arts and Sciences at West Virginia University, has been named president of the Fairmont State Foundation.

Chris Kughn, executive director of Caminar, has joined Buckelew Programs as CEO. He succeeds Tamara Player, who is leaving after three years leading this organization that provides mental-health services and addiction treatment to people living in Northern California.

Barb Richey, vice president for marketing at the Spokane Teachers Credit Union, has joined Eastern Washington University as vice president for university advancement. She will also serve as executive director of the EWU Foundation.

Rasmuson Foundation

The Alaska grant maker has hired three new program officers.

Vaughnetta Barton, a teaching associate and project manager for Communities in Action at the University of Washington School of Social Work, will now become external affairs program officer.

Tanya Dumas, director of operations at the Indian Child Welfare team at Casey Family Programs, has been named program officer.

Enzina Marrari, curator of public art and public works for the Municipality of Anchorage, has joined the foundation as program officer.

Strada Education Network

The education foundation has brought in two new senior vice presidents.

Amy Dunham, managing director of strategic communications for the NCAA, has been named senior vice president of marketing and communications.

Danny Lopez, deputy chief of staff to Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb, has joined as senior vice president and chief of staff.

Other Notable Appointments

Jill Anderson, assistant vice president for annual giving and advancement services at Muhlenberg College, has been appointed vice president for development and alumni engagement at Moravian College.

Efrat Gilman, director of finance and operations at the Luria Academy of Brooklyn, has become chief operating officer at the Jewish National Fund. She succeeds Harold Cohen, who has retired after 21 years.

Eddie Kenny, interim vice president of advancement at Kentucky Wesleyan College since September, has accepted the promotion permanently. Previously he was the college’s executive director of external relations.

Greg McGovern, vice president for development at the Brookings Institution, will now serve as vice president for development at Resources for the Future.

Tricia Mire, director of development at the Asolo Repertory Theatre, has joined the Ringling College of Art and Design as a senior development officer.

Departures

Tamir Novotny, executive director of Emerging Practitioners in Philanthropy, has departed after almost four years at the helm.

Motoatsu Sakurai, president of the Japan Society since 2009, intends to retire once a successor has been named.

Donald Waters, senior program officer for scholarly communications at the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, will retire on August 31 after 20 years at the foundation.

Legacies

Unita Blackwell, a lifelong civil-rights activist and the first black woman to be elected mayor in Mississippi, died May 13 at age 86. In 1992, she received a $350,000 genius grant from the MacArthur Foundation for her work to improve access to housing and clean water in Mississippi.
