The chief executive of Netflix, Reed Hastings, announced through Facebook on Tuesday the launch of a $100 million education foundation, The Washington Post reports.
The first two grants from the Hastings Fund, totaling $1.5 million, will support college access for minority students. Grantees include the Hispanic Foundation of Silicon Valley and UNCF scholarship funds.
Mr. Hastings, a longtime supporter of charter schools, signed the Giving Pledge with his wife in 2012.
