Chicago Public Media Chief Moves to New York Public Radio
Goli Sheikholeslami, CEO of Chicago Public Media, will become president and CEO of New York Public Radio in October.
She will succeed Depelsha McGruder, the group’s chief operating officer, who has served as interim CEO since the April departure of Laura Walker. Walker led the public radio group for 23 years.
MacArthur Foundation Names New Chief Financial Officer
Kenneth Jones II, vice president and chief financial officer at the Annie E. Casey Foundation, will become vice president and chief financial officer at the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation.
Obama Foundation Taps Global Economist to Lead
Adewale (Wally) Adeyemo, former deputy national security adviser for international economics and deputy director of the National Economic Council, has been named the organization’s first president.

Adeyemo joined President Obama’s administration in 2015, and since 2017, he has served as a senior adviser at BlackRock and the Center for Strategic and International Studies.
Lawyer to Head Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation
Tanuja Dehne will become president and CEO of the $274 million grant maker on September 9.
She is a lawyer and the former executive vice president of NRG Energy.
Dehne succeeds Cynthia Evans, who will return to her role as chief financial officer after serving as interim president following Chris Daggett’s retirement.
Wells Fargo and JPMorgan Chase Make Changes
Eileen Fitzgerald will join Wells Fargo as head of housing-affordability philanthropy on September 30. She is currently CEO of Stewards of Affordable Housing for the Future.

In June, Wells Fargo committed $1 billion in charitable giving for affordable housing.
Meanwhile, at JPMorgan Chase, Colleen Briggs and Jennie Sparandara will serve as co-heads of strategy for the bank’s foundation. Briggs was most recently executive director of community innovation at JPMorgan Chase & Company, where Sparandara was executive director of global philanthropy.
Julie Slama, vice president for global philanthropy at the bank, has been named head of employee engagement and volunteerism.

Sam Marks, executive director of Local Initiatives Support Corporation’s New York local office, has become CEO of FJC: A Foundation of Philanthropic Funds.
Vic Fuentes, lead singer and rhythm guitarist of the rock band Pierce the Veil, has been appointed co-chairman and CEO of Living the Dream Foundation, which offers opportunities to children and young adults with serious illnesses.

Allison Harvey Turner, director of the environment program at the S.D. Bechtel Jr. Foundation, has been named CEO of the Water Foundation. She succeeds Wade Crowfoot, who departed in January to become secretary for natural resources for Gov. Gavin Newsom of California.
Transitions Underway at Joyce and Arnold Philanthropies
Darren Reisberg has joined the Joyce Foundation as vice president for programs and strategy. Previously he was vice president for strategic initiatives and deputy provost at the University of Chicago.
Kevin Madden, a partner at Hamilton Place Strategies, has been hired as executive vice president for advocacy at Arnold Ventures, which was previously known as the Laura and John Arnold Foundation.
Legacies
David Koch, who donated more than $1.3 billion to charity, died last month at age 79. While he and his brother Charles were known for their giving to conservative causes, David Koch was also a significant supporter of other charities, including the State Theater of New York at Lincoln Center — renamed the David H. Koch Theater — NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, and the American Museum of Natural History. He appeared on the Chronicle’s Philanthropy 50, our annual list of the top donors, eight times.
Marylou Whitney, a philanthropist whose late husband, Cornelius Vanderbilt Whitney, was an heir to oil and rail fortunes and the co-founder of Pan American Airways, died July 19 at age 93.

The couple were major donors to the Whitney Museum of American Art, which was founded by her mother-in-law, Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney.
With her third husband, John Hendrickson, Marylou Whitney donated millions to the Radiation Oncology Center at Saratoga Hospital and the Marylou Whitney and John Hendrickson Cancer Facility for Women at the University of Kentucky Markey Cancer Center.
