Oral Roberts University has announced a $70-million gift from Mart Green, whose family started the Hobby Lobby and Mardel Christian Educational and Supply stores, reports the Tulsa World. The university will receive $8-million immediately, but Mr. Green has said that the remaining $62-million will only be disbursed after a 90-day review process in which the university must display “good governance.”
The gift announcement coincided with a two-day meeting of the university Board of Regents that ended Tuesday, The New York Times reports. During that time, the university accepted the resignation of its president, Richard Roberts, who faces allegations that he and his family misspent the university’s money. Neither Mr. Roberts nor his lawyer provided comment in the article.
