Park Foundation Hires New Executive Director (Transitions)

Park Foundation
Rachel Leon, executive director of the Environmental Grantmakers Association, has been tapped as executive director of the Park Foundation, which supports nonprofit work on democracy, media, environment, social justice, and sustainability.

Rachel Leon, executive director of the Environmental Grantmakers Association, has been tapped as executive director. This $363 million foundation in Ithaca, N.Y., was established in 1966 by Roy Hampton Park Sr., the founder and CEO of Park Communications. It makes grants in the program areas of democracy, media, environment, social justice, and sustainability.

American Public Media Group

Jon McTaggart is stepping down as CEO of the parent company of Minnesota Public Radio, American Public Media, the Fitzgerald Theater in St. Paul, Minn., and Southern California Public Radio in Los Angeles. He has been with the media group since 1983, when he was a radio station manager for Minnesota Public Radio.

American Public Media Group

The announcement came on the same day as staff members at Minnesota Public Radio called for measures to improve diversity, equity, and inclusion at the organization.

Blues Foundation

Patricia Wilson Aden, president and CEO of the African American Museum in Philadelphia, will become president and CEO of the music organization in Memphis. She succeeds Barbara Newman, who is retiring.

Sesame Workshop

Stefan Kastenmüller has been appointed to the newly created position of general manager for Europe and will oversee the children’s education group’s expansion into Europe. Most recently, he was senior vice president and group general manager for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa at World Wrestling Entertainment.

More New CEOs

Cathy Belk, president of JumpStart, has been appointed president and CEO of the Deaconess Foundation in Cleveland.

Lära Fisher, CEO and president of the South County Outreach Hunger and Homeless Services Agency, will become CEO of Grace Place for Children and Families on October 19.

Alison Carter Marlow has been named executive director of the Jeremiah Program’s Boston campus. She comes to the charity from YouthBuild Boston, where she was director of programs and operations.

Alexandria Medina, interim executive director of the Oakland Public Education Fund since March, has accepted the post permanently. She joined the fund last year as director of programs.

Tim Parker, president of Michigan Capital Network, has been named president and CEO of the Community Foundation of North Central Wisconsin. He succeeds Jean Tehan, who retired in August after 32 years there.

Lyndsay Werking, director of development at the American Composers Orchestra, will now also serve as acting president.

Edward Yim has been named chief content officer at WQXR, a classical-music station in New York. Most recently he was president of the American Composers Orchestra.

Other Notable Appointments

Bridget Burke, former director of public affairs at Health Care Service Corporation, has been named associate director at the Three Lakes Foundation.

Ricardo DeLeon, chief operating officer of the Hispanic Scholarship Fund, has been appointed chief financial officer at the Los Angeles LGBT Center. In addition, Calen Ouellette has joined as chief development officer. Most recently, he was chief administrative officer at the University of Southern California’s Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry.

Tim Edelen has been appointed assistant director for annual giving and donor relations at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill University Libraries. He was previously advancement-services coordinator at the UNC School of Law.

Aretha Green-Rupert, regional director at the Otto Bremer Trust, has been hired as program director at the Carlson Family Foundation.

Heidi Holder, director of education at the Queens Museum, has been named chair of education at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. In addition, Douglas Hegley has joined as chief digital officer. He was most recently chief digital officer at the Minneapolis Institute of Art.

Tracy Kalytiak has been promoted from program associate to program officer at the Mat-Su Health Foundation. She will continue to work in the foundation’s target wellness and coronavirus-prevention and -response grant programs.

Serena Worthington, senior director of public programs at Chicago’s Center on Halsted, has been hired as a program officer at the Retirement Research Foundation.

Legacies

Ann Getty, a philanthropist who donated millions to arts and education groups in San Francisco, died September 14. She was 79. With her husband, Gordon Getty, who is the son of the oil magnate J. Paul Getty, the couple gave $1 million earlier this year to the Give2SF Covid-19 Response and Recovery Fund to support food security, access to housing, and financial security for workers and small businesses in San Francisco. They also gave $15 million to the University of San Francisco to establish an honors college in 2017 and $4.5 million to the League of American Orchestras in 2016 to bolster innovation at orchestra organizations.

Reggie Robinson, president and CEO of the Kansas Health Foundation, died on September 19 after a recent illness. He was 63. Robinson had led the foundation since December.
