In an interview with Gwen Ifill of PBS NewsHour, Suzy DeFrancis, chief public-affairs officer for the American Red Cross, responded to an investigation highlighting mismanagement following Hurricanes Sandy and Isaac in 2012.
Ms. DeFrancis said that the investigation, published by ProPublica and NPR and based on internal documents and communications, failed to show “any of the good work” done by the Red Cross in the wake of the two devastating storms. The organization distributed 17.5 million meals and snacks and 7 million relief items like gloves and hats, she said.
