What is a Chronicle of Philanthropy account?
An account is needed in order to gain access to our articles, receive newsletters, or job alerts. You can create an account here. Once you do so, please check your email. You’ll receive access as soon as you confirm your email address.
If you already have a Philanthropy.com account, simply sign in and start reading.
If you have an account or are a subscriber and have difficulty accessing content, try signing out and signing back in to your account. If you continue to experience problems, call our customer support team at 571-540-8070 or email us at cophelp@philanthropy.com.
I can’t recall my password.
For privacy and security purposes, we do not resend passwords. But you can reset your password for your account. (You will need to know the email address you used when you created your account.)
What happens once I create my account?
You’ll be able to sample anything on our site — award-winning news coverage, agenda-setting opinion essays, advice to help you advance in your career, our daily and weekly newsletters, and more. When you reach your limit of free content, we’ll ask you to subscribe.
When you register, we’ll ask you three questions to help us understand your interests and needs. We’ll use that information to tailor content recommendations and provide relevant job alerts, among other things.
What will you do with the information I share with The Chronicle?
The information we collect from you will be used to personalize your experience, recognize you each time you sign in, help us understand our audience, and manage or improve our services for you. We’ll also email you based on your selected preferences, including newsletters, notifications about your account, and updates or special offers from select partners. You can adjust your email preferences at any time.
After I create an account, how many articles will I be able to read for free?
Some news sites offer readers a specific number of stories that they can read for free. Our model is dynamic. We’ll consider a number of factors — such as who you are, how you read us, and what you’ve read in the past — before asking you to subscribe.
I can’t afford to buy a subscription. What are my options?
We know that buying a subscription is a commitment. But your financial support is what makes it possible for us to bring you the best of our journalism.
Many organizations purchase access to philanthropy.com for their employees through an organizational site license. Check with your COO or director to see if you have site license access. If your organization does not, suggest that your director contact our site license support team at 800-728-2819 or complete a site license interest form.
I’m already an individual subscriber. What if I don’t have a philanthropy.com account?
If you’re already a subscriber but do not have a philanthropy.com account, you can call our customer support team at 800-728-2819 or email us at cophelp@philanthropy.com to link your subscription to your account.
How much does a subscription cost?
Please visit our subscription information page for pricing details.
I need to talk to someone about my subscription, not my account.
Please give us a call at 800-728-2819 Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. ET and a representative will be more than happy to assist you. If you should happen to contact us after business hours or on the weekend, please leave a message and you will be contacted the next business day.
Can I share my username and password so that a colleague can read the premium content, too?
No. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and accounts, and are solely responsible for any unauthorized use by others of your account.
For your security, we limit the number of devices that can make simultaneous use of your Chronicle account. If this limit is exceeded, we will sign you out of your earliest session to protect the integrity of your account. If you regularly use private browsing windows, you may be more likely to exceed our device limits.
Please note, the exact number of devices allowed for simultaneous use is subject to change based on our policy and system capabilities in order to provide the best possible user experience.
For more information, read our User Agreement.
