Ray Madoff wants America’s rules on philanthropy to put the concerns of charities and those they serve ahead of the interests of donors.
Too often, she says, that doesn't happen. To advance such policies, she recently co-founded the Forum on Philanthropy and the Public Good at Boston College Law School, where she is a professor.
In October, the forum held a much-noticed conference to discuss every side of donor-advised funds and commissioned a set of scholarly papers designed to influence policy makers.
In a conversation with Amy Costello, host and founder of Tiny Spark, Ms. Madoff discusses the federal rules that govern DAFs, payout requirements for private foundations, and the challenges of criticizing well-intentioned donors and charities. Listen to the entire conversation.
