The new advocacy organization founded by former U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords to lobby for stricter gun laws has drawn a $1-million start-up gift from a pair of wealthy Texas attorneys, says Bloomberg.
Steve Mostyn, of Houston, who made the donation with his wife, Amber, was a major contributor to President Barack Obama’s campaign. He said Americans for Responsible Solutions, the political action committee launched Tuesday by mass-shooting-victim Giffords and her husband, ex-astronaut Mark Kelly, will help prevent the National Rifle Association “from bullying common sense out of the [gun control] discussion.”
