Here are notable new grant awards compiled by The Chronicle:
Henry L. Hillman Foundation
$30 million over 10 years for the Hillman Fellows for Innovative Cancer Research Program at the University of Pittsburgh.
W.M. Keck Foundation
$21 million to back support science and engineering programs at Chapman University.
Cleveland Foundation
$9.9 million for education, health and human services, and successful-aging programs at seven nonprofits.
Ford Foundation
$1.5 million for fellowships to 25 prominent artists and cultural leaders. The yearlong fellowships include unrestricted stipends of $50,000 for individuals, and $75,000 for collaborative teams. Fellows will create work centered on questions of freedom and justice, which the fellows will showcase in late 2018.
