The Medical University of South Carolina’s new children’s hospital will be named for tech entrepreneur Shaun Jenkins in recognition of a $25 million gift, reports The Post and Courier of Charleston.
The $350 million medical center is slated to open in 2019, replacing a 28-year-old facility Mr. Jenkins said lacks sufficient space and modern equipment.
The donor is the founder and chief executive officer of Benefitfocus, a Charleston-based company that provides benefits technology solutions for employers. The gift pushes the university past the $40 million mark in a campaign to raise at least $50 million in private money for construction of the new hospital.
