Raising as much in three months as it typically collects in a year, the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra said Sunday that it had surpassed a $5-million target that clears the way for implementation of a new collective-bargaining agreement with its musicians, The Indianapolis Star and the Indianapolis Business Journal report.
A “bridge” contract approved by players and management in October, after bitter negotiations and a five-week lockout, stipulated that the symphony raise at least $5-million by February 3 for a long-term labor pact to kick in. Failure to do so could have meant reopening the contract talks.
