A new organization called BigLeap is marrying “crowdfunding” Web sites like Kickstarter and GoFundMe to competitions to attract dollars for innovative projects serving social goals, according to Forbes.
Described in the article as “the world’s first crowdfunding prize and reward network,” BigLeap allows users to solicit contributions for contests aimed at driving social change. The first such campaign on the BigLeap site seeks $25,000 for a challenge to develop free, game-based learning programs for underprivileged kids.
