Amid money woes that have prompted it to close facilities and implement a 5 percent budget cut, pay for the Toledo YMCA’s chief executive and his wife are coming under scrutiny, The Toledo Blade reports.
Robert Alexander, head of the Toledo YMCA since 1989, had a salary of $265,441 and received total compensation of $298,000 in 2007, according to the charity’s tax filing — more than that of the leaders of Ohio YMCA’s with bigger budgets in Columbus and Cincinnati, according to the newspaper. Mr. Alexander’s wife, Stephanie Dames, made $130,807 as the Toledo YMCA’s senior vice president of development.
