Asia Society
Kyung-wha Kang will become the organization’s next president and CEO in April.
Kang was the first woman to serve as South Korea’s minister of foreign affairs from 2017 to 2021, and she is currently a professor at Yonsei University’s Institute for Global Engagement and Empowerment.
The New York-based organization encourages ties between Asia and the rest of the world through the arts, education, policy, and business outreach.
Boston Foundation
Naila Bolus is joining the $1.7 billion foundation as deputy vice president and director of its Campaign for a Greater Boston.
Bolus recently stepped down as CEO of Jumpstart after 10 years at the early-education nonprofit.
Giffords
Emma Brown has become executive director of the gun-safety advocacy organization that was founded by former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords of Arizona, who survived a gunshot to the head in a 2011 assassination attempt.
Brown previously served as campaign manager for Sen. Mark Kelly of Arizona, who is married to Gabrielle Giffords.
Orange County Community Foundation
Tammy Tumbling, chief operating officer, has become president of the $575 million community fund. She will serve alongside Shelley Hoss, who will remain its CEO.
In addition, Cathleen Otero has been promoted to chief operating officer. She has worked there for 10 years, most recently as senior vice president of donor and community engagement.

Susan Bass Roberts has been promoted from vice president and executive director to president of the Pohlad Family Foundation. She succeeds Bill Pohlad, who will become chairman of his family’s foundation that has $101 million in assets.
Gregory Bradbard has been named president of the IEHP Foundation, a nonprofit partner of the Inland Empire Health Plan, effective February 20. Currently he is president of the Hope Through Housing Foundation and senior vice president of strategic partnerships at National Community Renaissance.
Alissa Cooper will be the inaugural executive director of the Knight-Georgetown Institute, a new partnership between the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation and Georgetown University to drive policy and research on information and technology. Cooper was previously vice president for engineering at Cisco Systems.
Tiffany Hegarty, development director at the Pendleton Center for the Arts, will be the first executive director of the Pendleton Foundation Trust.
Sonni Holland has been promoted from senior vice president to president and CEO of the Charles Hayden Foundation.
Erik Kulleseid will serve as the next president and CEO of the Open Space Institute. He previously worked there for eight years as senior vice president and executive director of its Alliance for New York State Parks program, until leaving in 2019 to become the New York State parks commissioner. Kulleseid succeeds Christopher (Kim) Elliman, who has led the conservation group since 2004 and will now retire.
Jodi Manning, director of marketing, has been promoted to CEO of Cool Effect.
Kristie Mikus will become executive director of the Global Health Technologies Coalition on February 26. She was most recently senior policy adviser for the Global Health Center at the U.S. Centers for Diseases Control and Prevention.
Harman Singh, policy and education director, and Graham West, programs director, will now serve as co-interim executive directors of the Sikh Coalition. They follow Anisha Singh, who has departed after almost two years at the helm.
Erin Sprague, a consultant to climate technology start-ups, has been appointed CEO of Protect Our Winters. She has served as chair of its Board of Directors since 2022 and is the first woman to lead the conservation group.
Ny Whitaker has been hired as executive director of the W.E.B. Du Bois Center for Freedom and Democracy. She is a longtime consultant to charities, adjunct professor at New York University, and political adviser who founded New York for Biden+Harris.
Deborah Wilson, chief development officer at PEN America, has been named executive director of the Authors Guild Foundation. In addition, Bernard Schwartz, director of the 92nd Street Y’s Unterberg Poetry Center, will now serve as executive producer of literary programs. They replace Lynn Boulger, who is retiring after three years as executive director.
California Wellness Foundation
The $1 billion grant maker has hired two new senior leaders.
Veronica Carrizales is now managing director of programs. Most recently she was vice president of policy and external affairs at California Calls.
Alex Johnson, vice president at the strategic-communications firm Bryson Gillette, has returned to the foundation as vice president of public affairs. He previously worked there as chief of staff for programs until his departure in January 2023.

Na’ilah Amaru, a political consultant and former director of policy and campaigns at the Human Services Council, has been named vice president for policy, advocacy, and government relations at Women Creating Change. Laura Edidin, a lawyer at the employment law firm Wigdor LLP, has also joined the organization as senior vice president of programs and partnerships.
Nick Anderson, a senior reporter who covered higher education for the Washington Post, is joining the American Council on Education as vice president for higher education partnerships and improvement.
Patricia Brown, associate director of patient engagement for North America at PTC Therapeutics, has been tapped as senior director of community engagement at CureDuchenne, which raises money for research on Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
Jose Carbonell, chief marketing officer at Consumer Reports, is the new vice president of marketing and communications at the political watchdog group RepresentUs.
James Claiborne, senior vice president of exhibitions and programs at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History, is returning to the Barnes Foundation as deputy director for community engagement. He previously worked at the cultural institution in Philadelphia as curator of public programs from 2021 until this past summer.
Guy Fisher, business-services manager at the Center of Workforce Innovations, is now program officer for career pathways at the Community Foundation of Elkhart County.
Jim Gohary has joined the California Academy of Sciences as managing director and chief financial officer. He was previously managing director and global head of finance at the company MSCI.
Jody Holt, chief finance officer at Koha Health, has been appointed chief finance and administrative officer at the Home for Little Wanderers, a child-welfare group in Boston.
Meghan Lowney, principal at Ripple Effect Consulting, will now serve as vice president of strategy and impact at the Tow Foundation.
Ricardo Moreno has been appointed chief revenue officer at Benevity, a maker of software for companies to manage their donations and employee volunteer hours. Most recently he was senior vice president of worldwide partnerships and chief revenue officer for Latin America at Diligent.
Aaron Ridings, deputy executive director for administration, policy, and research at GLSEN, is now executive vice president at PFLAG National, an organization that supports LGBTQ people and their families.
Julia Roberson has joined the Conservation Fund as its vice president of marketing and communications. She was previously a senior adviser to the CEO at the Ocean Conservancy.
Lauren Smith, chief health equity and strategy officer at the CDC Foundation, will join the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation as vice president of strategic portfolios on March 25.
Brooke Stafford-Brizard, vice president for research to practice at the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, has been named vice president for innovation and impact at the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching.
Departures
Liz Carter, president and CEO of the Scripps Howard Fund and Scripps Howard Foundation, will retire in May after nine years at the helm.
Barbara Fortier, CEO of Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts, plans to retire in June. She has worked there for 23 years.
Douglas Pinkham intends to retire as president and CEO of the Public Affairs Council at the end of 2024. He has led the organization for 27 years.
Diane Regas will depart in June after six years as president and CEO of Trust for Public Land.
Will Shafroth will step back as president and CEO of the National Park Foundation in January 2025. He will remain in an advisory role at this nonprofit partner to the National Park Service.
