Doris Buffett, sister of the billionaire investor Warren Buffett, has given away $120-million primarily as what her brother calls the family’s “retail” philanthropist, according to a Richmond Times-Dispatch profile.
Ms. Buffett, 82, runs the Sunshine Lady Foundation, which helps individuals facing hard times as well as charities that help troubled children and others in need in several communities, including her current home of Fredericksburg, Va.
“I prefer to work where I live,” she said. “I know who the good people are and who the players are. It’s more difficult to be taken advantage of when you live here.”
