Nancy Hunt is co-founder and president of We Are Family Foundation, a New York City-based organization dedicated to the vision of a global family.
The foundation was started by Nile Rodgers, the songwriter and musician, in response to the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. Eleven days after that event, Mr. Rodgers brought together 200 musicians and celebrities, among them Queen Latifah, Patti LaBelle, Jackson Browne, Bernadette Peters, and Luther Vandross, to re-record Mr. Rodgers’ hit song “We Are Family.” Spike Lee, the director, filmed the music video of that event.
